Unity is a spiritual movement, a way of life, based on the teachings of Jesus and the power of prayer. In Unity we believe all people are created with sacred worth regardless of culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or creed.
Whether you have a strong spiritual foundation, are just at the beginning of your spiritual journey, or do not believe in God at all, Unity offers spiritual insights and guidance for all people. While having its origins in Christianity, Unity brings together timeless teaching from many faith traditions. You will not find dogma in Unity, and we honor all spiritual paths.
There are the five principles that guide our lives in Unity:
The Five Principles
These ancient universal principles taught by Unity offer foundational guidance for living abundantly and staying in tune with your own divine nature.
1.God is everywhere and always present in every circumstance. This divine energy underlies and animates all of existence.
2.Human beings are innately good because they are connected to and an expression of Spirit.
3.Our thoughts have creative power to influence events and determine our experiences.
4.Prayer and meditation connect and align us to our own spiritual nature and to God.
5.It is not enough to understand spiritual teachings. We must apply our learning to all areas of life, incorporating them into our thoughts, words, and actions.
Unity Spiritual Center of Waco is an inclusive and affirming spiritual community offering practical, uplifting resources to support each person in applying spiritual principles to their lives. Our ministers offer meaningful, practical messages at our Sunday services.

Unity Spiritual Center is a small but caring group of individuals who lovingly contribute to numerous charitable organizations throughout the year. Listed below are our main projects. However, when there is a specific special need we often donate to help in that situation.
Undue Medical Debt (formerly RIP Medical Debt) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose purpose is to strengthen communities by erasing financially burdensome medical debt. Founded in 2014 by former debt collection executives, Undue Medical Debt is one of the leading charitable organizations that help pay medical bills. We work tirelessly to end medical debt and ensure a future where everyone can access healthcare without fear. As of August 2025 Undue Debe has relieved nearly $23 million of medical debt. Unity Spiritual Center of Waco contributes money quarterly to Undue Medical Debt from our tithe account.
From the projects listed below, the board and ministers create a calendar denoting which projects we will support throughout that year.
Stuffed Animals
During February, we collect Teddy Bears or other stuffed animals. They remain in the sanctuary to be “loved on” each Sunday. Then the loved animals are donated to the Hewitt and/or Woodway Police Department(s) to comfort children who have been affected by domestic violence or other situations requiring police intervention.
The Humane Society of Central Texas continues to receive lost, stray and unwanted animals, and are always in need of our help. So, we contribute dog food, and cat food as well as towels and blankets for cleaning and bedding. They also need bleach for cleaning and sanitizing. We deliver these items to the Humane Society of Central Texas.
We help the Family Abuse Center which always needs soap, shampoo, lotions and other personal products, including feminine hygiene items. And if any of us are at a hotel we collect the soap, bottles of shampoo, conditioner and lotion in the room, and contribute them to the Family Abuse Center as well. We collect and deliver socks, new underwear and diapers as well.
Pet Food for Seniors Receiving Meals on Wheels
The congregation at Unity Spiritual Center collects dry dog and cat food and gallon plastic bags to be provided to Meals on Wheels drivers. The bags are filled by volunteers and are distributed to elderly folks served by Meals on Wheels who can’t afford food for their beloved pets.
McLennan County Pack of Hope attempts to erase child hunger by supplying eligible students with bags of nutritious food. The Pack of Hope exists to erase child hunger in McLennan Co.by supplying participating school districts & their eligible students with backpacks filled with nutritious food, to prevent hunger from Friday to Sunday (while they are not in school).Ensuring our children are fed over weekends & holidays allows kids to focus throughout the week on their studies and have the resources necessary to excel in school. Unity Spiritual Center of Waco provides food items to be included in the packs prepared by volunteers at Pack of Hope.
Saving Our Newspapers
We save our newspapers and deliver them to the ABC clinic (Animal Birth Control) clinic. They needs newspapers for the animals, and supplies are low since many people subscribe only to the digital version.
The Cove:
Giving Youth Experiencing Homelessness a Safe Place to Thrive
and provides supportive resources to 14-18 year-olds in the Heart of Texas region who have no safe or settled place to live.
We Google “The Cove Waco” to go to their website and learn what is currently needed. Then we “Donate” through a link to Amazon that has a list of what is in need at the Cove. We either purchase them to collect and deliver from the church, or we have Amazon deliver them directly by specifying in the message box at checkout that the gift is from Unity Spiritual Center.
Back to School
We coordinate with local organizations and/or schools that provide school supplies for children of families with limited means. We collect notebooks, pencils, scissors, crayons, etc. and deliver them to a school selected to receive them.
Book Drive
We collect books for this community book drive each year and deliver them.
